While ordinary scales measure total body weight, they do not tell the whole story because they cannot distinguish between fat and muscle. This special scale gives you a relative estimate of body fat percentage to allow you to track progress over time. To use the Body Fat Analyzer, simply input your personal data (height, age and gender) and step on the analyzer/scale with bare feet. It uses BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) to send a harmless, unnoticeable electrical signal through the lower body. The signal flows with a different degree of difficulty depending on the amount of body fat. This difficulty is called electrical impedance. Data is then applied to a proprietary formula to estimate the total body water and body fat percentage. For maximum consistency and assesment, it is recommended that the scale's body fat and total body water functions be used at approximately the same time each day.
